Westeros Equine Academy was first established 24 years previously under the name of Ecuries des Andals by Virgil and Natalie Westerling. It started as a small private barn for wealthy and promising riders and remained so for 10 years or so before their oldest daughter Joséphine found her way into the administrative side of the business. Under her increasing involvement, the stable grew out of its initial purpose to offer lessons, leases, rehabilitation and training, breeding as well as host competitions for all levels. When the Westerling sisters officially inherited the business, they chose to rename it Westeros Equine Academy to capture the idea of largness and diversity of the place.
